With reasonable care a Backfriend hinge should last at least 12 months. However, premature failure can be caused by (1) Compressing the Backfriend in a folding carseat; (2) Letting the seatbase flop down into a fully-opened position; or (3) Letting your body fall down suddenly into the Backfriend.

To extend the life of your Backfriend, we recommend that hinges, hinge locks, and Velcro be replaced as soon as necessary.
