Prevent runaway stools & falls. Casters lock when you stand.
(a.k.a., Anti-rolling casters, Anti-runaway casters, Safety caster; Self-braking caster; Automatic-braking caster; Unoccupied-braking caster; Unloaded-braking caster; roll-control caster; internal brake caster)
This safety caster has an internal brake that resists rolling when the chair is unoccupied, and allows the wheels to roll freely when someone is sitting in the chair. This keeps an empty chair from rolling away from you if chair is inadvertently bumped. In some European countries, all chairs are required to have safety casters. In the USA, theses casters are primarily used on slick or sloping floors and on high stools equipped with foot rings.
Important! These casters are not a solution for the disabled, elderly, or any person who pushes heavily on the chair during ingress and egress. The chair will slide if pushed, just like a a 4-legged wooden dining chair might slide. These casters simply keep the chair from rolling away on sloping floors or when bumped.
Universal mounting stem11mm (1/3") diameter;19mm (3/4") long.
Standard chair casters in hard or soft tread are sold by many online retailers. Specialty chair casters and glides, e.g., in larger diameters, locking, braking (safety casters), industrial and ESD, can be hand-to-find. Give a Google search a try. You might get lucky.
